Tonight and next Friday I am doing two poetry readings. I’m so excited for both.
Tonight I’m reading at Webster’s Bookstore and Cafe in State College at 7 pm. My longtime friend, J. Harlan Ritchey will be there with me. He did the cover art and pieces for my book Heartwood. We’ve been friends for about 25 years. This is our third or fourth collaboration. But it’s the first that we’ve really gotten going thanks to my publisher, Penny at Mt. Nittany Press, an imprint of Eifrig Publishing. We will be joined by Miya Matsui, a young artist opening a gallery show and Ellen Siberian Tiger who will follow me with original music. [Update: As of this morning a small number of books will be available to buy. The printer said they will arrive Monday. So much for speedy deliveries. Books can be ordered, signed, and mailed.]
Then next Friday I’ll be reading with Todd Davis at the Bellefonte Museum (poster below). Todd writes gripping poetry that deeply reflects his connection to place. He will be reading from his new book, Winterkill. Gray’s Sporting Journal says Davis “observes nature in the great tradition of Robert Frost, James Dickey, and Jim Harrison.” That’s some company to keep. The reading starts at 7:30.
Books will be available at the Friday 15th event and we will be eager to talk with you.
